Akura 2015: Budget report of the first project
We donated stationery, desks and chairs to the students of Ittikulama primary school on the 1st of October in 2015. In this effort, Mr. Kularathna Rajapaksha introduced us to Ittilumala school and coordinated with the school to make this effort a success. Mr. Wimal Mahindarathne, the principal of the school, made the tables from a local carpenters shed, painted and made them ready to be donated to 6 students of the school.
Mrs. Thanoja Rajapaksha, Mr. Bandula Ranathunga and Mr. Ruwan Pushpika advised us with their experiences from the very beginning and contributed in composing the list of books to be donated.
Mr. Chandana Munasinghe’s support in getting a significant discount in buying books for Ittikulama school should be specially mentioned.
With the information from Mrs. Pavithree De Silva, we donated books to two school girls in Thissamaharama. Father of one of the girls is dead and the father of the other is paralyzed. We thank Mr. Dasun Sameera and his family for transporting those books from Moratuwa to Thissamaharama.
We thank you all for your immense contributions in terms of money, materials and ideas. Following report contains information about the expenses and donations in terms of money and materials. You may have not joined with Akura, still we cordially invite you to donate books in your capacity to the needy students of your village or town and to encourage people around you to do the same.
